It was the first time in 31 drawings that Mega Millions announced a winner and it marked the second time this year that the game yielded a billion-dollar winner. The total is the biggest in the game’s history.

“Congratulations to the Florida Lottery for selling a jackpot-winning ticket in Tuesday’s $1.58 billion Mega Millions drawing,” said Georgia Lottery President and CEO Gretchen Corbin, lead director of the Mega Millions Consortium.

“We also celebrate the funds generated for the many good causes supported by our participating lotteries.”

The winning numbers were 13, 19, 20, 32 and 33 with the Mega Ball number 14. The cash option payout for the drawing is $738 million.

“It’s the fourth time a jackpot-winning ticket has been sold in Florida; two prior wins were shared with other states, most recently a $502 million prize split with California last October 14,” said Mega Millions in a statement.

Mega Millions said pending final sales reconciliations across all 47 participating lotteries, Tuesday night’s jackpot could expand. The old record set in 2018 was $1.537 billion.

On Jan. 13, one ticket in Maine won the game’s $1.348 billion jackpot, which at that time was the second-highest total Mega Millions history.

Mega Millions said seven other tickets matched all five white balls in the game, allowing them to win a second-tier prize of at least $ 1 million.

America’s other lottery, Powerball, just named its own billion-dollar winner in July when a single ticket in California captured its $1.08 billion prize, with a cash value of $558.1 million.

Powerball’s next drawing is set for Wednesday with a new jackpot of $170 million.
